New classes coming soon, tasters and an Open Day!

We’re gearing up for a fantastic autumn here at Pyramid Health & Fitness Ltd – whatever the weather – with a whole host of new classes coming soon, and a couple of opportunities for you to try things out first!

Our programme for the autumn will include:

  • Body Blitz, Boxercise, Bootcamp, Bokwa (a fabulous high-energy aerobics class), Bodygroove (a dance-style workout)
  • Fitness Pilates
  • Sing-A-Long-A-Robics (Love to sing in front of the mirror? Well, this is your chance to sing AND work out, and you don’t have to be able to sing or dance to do it – in this class, everyone’s a star!)
  • Legs, Bums and Tums
  • Zumba (of course!)
  • … and more …

We’re also introducing a ‘Swing It!’ class using Kettlebells, and a HIIT it Hard High Intensity Interval Training Class, with taster sessions running as follows:

Monday 17th September at Great Kingshill Village Hall

  • 7.30pm – Swing It! Kettlebells class
  • 8.05pm – HIIT it Hard – Total Body. A 25 minute High Intensity Interval Training class – not for beginners!

Tuesday 18th September at Millbrook School

  • 7.00pm – Swing It! Kettlebells class

We’ll also be running a Legs, Bums and Tums taster on Tuesday 18th, at 7.30 p.m.

There will be a small charge of £3 per person per taster session, and you will need to BOOK IN ADVANCE for the HIIT it Hard – Total Body and Swing It! classes, as spaces for these sessions will be very limited. If you’re a monthly paying member, there is no charge, but you will still need to book to take part. Email to book your place.

Today, we’re delighted to be able to feature a testimonial from Kate, who’s one of our fabulous regular Bootcampers!

“I enrolled on bootcamp at the end of September 2011 having come back from holiday tipping the scales at well over 10 st and with a very definite muffin top over my jeans – my usual 4 mile runs didn’t seem to be having any effect but after the taster week when I could barely walk down the stairs I had already lost 2lb so I was hooked. The weight loss continued over the next 4 weeks when I abstained from coffee, tried eating wheat and potato free but with the amazing effect of losing a further 7 lb.

After a month off to catch up on sleep (5.30 alarms for the 6.15 morning class!) I re-enrolled for another course – this time I was less strict with my diet but still achieved steady weight loss but my shrinking size was having unforeseen consequences – most of my clothes were now too big – with Christmas looming I had lost more than a stone and my party clothes were hanging off me so I reached into the depths of my wardrobe for my black velvet 50’s cocktail dress which I wore for my 21st birthday some time ago – pre marriage – pre babies, and more than 21 years ago. Reader, it fits!!

I have since had to replace most of my wardrobe to fit my new size but I can wear my black velvet again and again!!”

Are you brave enough for Doomsday?

On Saturday 25 February, to a backdrop of bright sunshine and a clear blue sky, our hard core Bootcampers turned out for another helping of Doomsday, our ultimate 90-minute Bootcamp session. Anyone expecting the workout of their life won’t have been disappointed: with ropes, tyres, powerbags, medicine balls, kettlebells and more at the ready, instructors Alice and Ben kept the challenges coming! This was our third Doomsday Bootcamp – some brave souls have attended all three – and another fantastic event. February taster week and Bootcamp

Well, our January Bootcamp is now underway, and we’re already starting to look ahead to our next taster and Bootcamp. The February taster takes place in w/b 20 February, when we’ll be offering early morning, mid-morning and evening/weekend sessions at Hazlemere Recreation Ground, and early morning sessions at Aylesbury. Our next four-week Bootcamp follows straight on from the taster, starting in w/b 27 February, with Bootcamps on offer at the same times and locations as for the taster. Alice’s baby bump blog

OK have decided to keep a log of me as I go through my stages of pregnancy – some of you will see me expanding before your very eyes in class anyway, but some might not and I want to do this really as a log of what happens but also as an exercise for getting back in shape after – as I have my book coming out shortly, I am going to make damn sure I use it and practise what I preach!

So, here’s the first picture of me at just about 16 weeks, I can notice a real difference already to be honest, although someone has said they can’t see a bump (think they are just being kind, thank you Chris :o ) ) and I shall post over the coming weeks.

I thought I was feeling better, sickness has gone, but after a weekend in Cardiff I’m shattered again – just can’t take the pace now obviously!! Wasn’t even a really late night, but did go out Friday night and Saturday night, just too much for me these days.

Still managing to get to the gym twice a week for 2 short workouts, but haven’t been swimming for a couple of weeks due to time – once I get my book out of the way, will be back to it.

My book by the way, is on banishing your baby bump and getting back in shape after giving birth, so I am going to show myself what can be achieved.
